It’s Colorado Fall, Y’all

As promised, I have come to give my sentiments to Colorado Fall.

Dear Colorado Fall, although I consistently talk about my love for Pennsylvania Fall in your presence, you still have a place in my heart.  I’m pretty sure that you only last about 5 minutes, but when caught in that quick period of time, you are truly beautiful.  You were made for people like me, who worship your goldenrod color.  Thank you for sharing your crinkly Aspen leaves.  Sincerely, Amy

It’s Pennsylvania Fall, Y’all!

You can all be quiet about the holiday season, because it’s Fall – The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!  Autumn is without a doubt my favorite season, but I actually get a little nostalgic and sad when it comes around in Colorado.  If you’re from the Northeast, or have ever visited there during the Fall, you know what I mean.  Nothing beats that crisp air, multi-colored leaves, and overall feeling that is inexplicably specific to that region only.  IT’S SO GOOD!  Now excuse me while I continuously scroll through these pictures and google plane tickets back to Pittsburgh.

Local Outing: Brainard Lake Recreational Area

This past Sunday was B-E-A-U-tiful here in Colorado. Classic, Colorado blue sky with sunshine and a breeze.  My family was still in town, so we stopped by one of our favorite spots, Foolish Craig’s for brunch, and then drove up to Brainard Lake for a little outdoors time.

Road Trip Playlist: Live at Red Rocks

To accompany my recent post about Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, I have made a playlist composed of songs all recorded live at Red Rocks.  For my other playlists, I would just recommend listening and not necessarily watching (you are supposed to be road trippin’ after all), but this one is definitely worth watching.  It shows some great sights of the amphitheater.  Also, young Bono.

The hills are alive with the sounds of Red Rocks:

Road Trip Playlist: Live at Red Rocks

  1. Ants Marching – Dave Matthews Band
  2. Nights in White Satin – Moody Blues
  3. Little Lion Man – Mumford & Sons

  6. Colder Weather – Zac Brown Band
  7. Sunday Bloody Sunday – U2
  8. The Story – Brandi Carlile
  9. Windows are Rolled Down – Amos Lee and The Colorado Symphony
  10. 93 Million Miles – Jason Mraz

*The last song was not recorded at Red Rocks, but the video is shot there and shows amazing scenes of the surroundings.

Local Outing: Red Rocks Amphitheater

Red Rocks Amphitheater is arguably one of the best concert venues in the world.  Outdoors, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, surrounded by nature.  A view of Denver in the distance.  Even when it rains, there somehow seems to be a perfect semicircle rainbow showcasing the stage.

Happy 100th Birthday, Rocky Mountain National Park!

It’s the holiday weekend!  And by holiday, I of course mean the 100th Anniversary of Rocky Mountain National Park!  Pop the bubbly, y’all!

Local Outing: Pearl Street

I know it’s the middle of the week, but let’s pretend it’s the weekend again, okay?  And if we’re really taking advantage of this pretending thing, let’s pretend that it’s still summer in Boulder and none of the college students have come back yet.  Not that I don’t love college students – but seriously – WHERE DID YOU ALL COME FROM.  There are so many of you. Remembering Los Cabos: Part III

Part 3 of my Remembering Los Cabos posts!  This post holds pictures from my absolute favorite part of the trip.  Although Cabo is known for it’s relaxing, all-inclusive resorts, we decided to rent a car and take a day to go off the beaten path.  Cabo is at the tip of the beautiful Baja Peninsula of California.  Once you leave the tourist area, it is so rustic that you feel like you must have driven for hours (when really it was more like 20 minutes).  We drove up the eastern coast of the peninsula to Cabo Pulmo in the National Park area.  We packed our snorkel gear, towels, and a lunch – and it was amazing!

Local Outing: Munson Farms

The beginning of the school year is always crazy, so recently on weekends I haven’t really been up for any big outings.  Summer seems to be slipping through our fingers.  The girl in these pictures is a girl who is trying to suck up every last warm summer day – sunburn, mosquito bites, sweat and all.

Remembering Los Cabos: Part II

As I mentioned in my first post for Remembering Los Cabos, Joe and I are celebrating our first year of marriage – and I am sharing some pictures from our trip to Los Cabos last year.

To be honest, we were so busy planning the wedding, we really didn’t get a chance to put that much effort into planning the honeymoon.  It all turned out well, though!  I feel like we do best when we plan the big parts of the trips, and let the little moments throughout the day just lead themselves.  Its hard to be stuck to an itinerary when you have never been somewhere before, and don’t really know what you want to see.
